Q) Do I need a Doctors referral for Physiotherapy? No. However some Health Insurance Policies require one so please check with your Insurer.

Q) What can I expect on my first Physiotherapy appointment? You will be thoroughly assessed and a diagnosis provided. At that time a treatment and rehabilitation plan individually tailored to suit your needs will be devised with realistic objectives and goals.

Q) What do I wear to my Physiotherapy sessions? You should wear loose, comfortable clothing and be prepared to remove outer layers so that your physiotherapist can closely examine the injured area, in some cases they may wish to analyse your posture and alignment so may ask you to remove other outer clothes. In respect of this suitable underwear and a pair of shorts are required.

Q) How does Clinical Pilates differ from Standard Pilates? Clinical Pilates is different to standard Pilates in that the client is individually assessed by a physiotherapist and then given exercises that specifically target their problem areas. The physiotherapist closely supervises the client's technique, and grades the exercises according to the patients abilities so that injuries are prevented.

Q) What does Reflexology entail? The practitoner will take a short medical history, which will cover your present and past health and lifestyle and the  reasons for having treatment.  This initial consultation will enable the discussion of how to tailor your treatment plan  specific for your needs, also providing the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You will be required to remove your socks and shoes and be made comfortable on a therapy couch.  Gentle massage and the application of pressure is applied to specific areas of the feet which are believed to correspond directly to parts of the body. The application and effect of the therapy is unique to each person.  All you have to do then is relax and enjoy your treatment. Following treatment, you will be given feedback and a course of reflexology may be recommended depending on your body's needs.

Q) How will I feel after Reflexology? Most people  will notice  a response after one or two treatments and feel a sense of well-being and relaxation. However if treatment is being given for a chronic, long-standing condition, it may take several sessions for the body to respond in a definite way.  You will be given an leaflet explaining potential effects of treatment and after care advice.

Q) What does a Reiki appointment entail? You relax and remain fully clothed lying on a therapy couch, whilst the practitioner holds their hands gently on or slightly above specific areas of the body. The laying on of hands brings a sense of deep relaxation, inner healing and restoring natural balance.

Q) What happens in a Hopi Ear Candle Appointment? This is a painless and non-invasive treatment. You will be asked to lie on a therapy couch on your side, fully clothed and made comfortable. A Hopi Ear Candle, which has 100% natural ingredients is gently placed onto the outer ear passage of each ear. The burning candle is held safely by the practitioner and  works on the chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface and equalising any pressure in the head and ears. Following this,  a thermo-auricular massage will be performed to stimulate energy points, increase circulation, assist sinus drainage and to achieve complete relaxation.

Q) Do I have to be a member of The Tytherington Club or ClubAZ? You do not need to be a member of the Tytherington Club or ClubAZ to attend these classes or to use any of the services of Club Physiotherapy Ltd.
